Causes And Symptoms Of Mouth Lesions

Posted on 4/24/2023 by Office
Causes And Symptoms Of Mouth LesionsAn oral lesion, often known as a mouth sore, is an open wound that develops on the gum tissue. While some are far less common, others occur rather often. Sometimes they show up as missing areas of skin, and if they are not treated, they may progress into necrosis of deeper tissues if the condition is allowed to continue.

Oral lesions may be an indicator of more serious issues with your oral health, but more often than not, they indicate to a problem with the body as a whole. Canker sores are the most common kind of mouth sore, and they affect the majority of persons who have mouth pain. If they clear up on their own, it means that they are not harmful to your health and that they have occurred often.

Canker sores that do not heal after a reasonable amount of time could indicate oral or skin cancer. If the lesion in your mouth takes longer than two weeks to heal, you should schedule an appointment with an oral surgeon. Anemia, infections of many different types, autoimmune illnesses such as lupus, cancer therapy, physical trauma, and stress may all contribute to the development of mouth sores.

Symptoms Of Oral Lesions May Vary

Due to oral lesions appearing in such a wide variety of forms, colors, sizes, and root causes, the symptoms they produce might vary greatly depending on the context. Oral lesions may manifest themselves in a variety of ways, including a painful region on the gums, ulcers, or areas that are missing skin.
