•	The other type of bridge is the cantilever. Dentists recommend this type for one-sided gaps, as the pontic offers support, one abutment tooth at a time.
•	Maryland bridges are another type where a framework supports the ceramic or metal fused porcelain teeth. It is applicable for the front teeth on most occasions.
•	The last type is the implant-supported bridge. These are similar to traditional bridges, except that instead of cement, there are dental implants anchored to the jaw that provide the support for the bridge.

Frenectomies

Inside the mouth there are ridges of soft tissue that prevent over-extension. One of these ridges is referred to as a frenulum, or frenum. There is a frenulum connecting the tongue to the base of the mouth, and two more connect the top and bottom lips to the gums.

Frenula do not always form properly, and can make it difficult to talk or may simply be uncomfortable. When this happens, we perform an operation called a frenectomy where we modify the frenulum to allow for proper function and range of motion.

This is usually done on very young children, especially babies, as they recover faster than adults. Frenectomies are fast, and a sedative will ensure that your child feels little to nothing.
